Toronto Blue Jays left fielder Alan Roden lost his eye black on the padding of the outfield wall after slamming into it while catching a fly ball during Sunday's game in Philadelphia.
It happened in the bottom of the fifth inning with one out as the Phillies held a 6-2 lead. Phillies batter Nick Castellanos hit a fly ball to deep left field that sent Roden running towards the outfield wall. He managed to catch the ball with his glove just as he ran face-first into the outfield wall and held onto it for the out as he fell on his backside.

Roden was checked out by Blue Jays medical staff that made sure he was OK to stay in the game. However, shortstop Ernie Clement got a kick out of finding Roden's eye black smeared on the outfield wall in the spot where he crashed into it while making the catch.

Fly ball catches against the outfield wall are some of the most exciting plays in baseball, and this one by Roden was certainly one for the highlight reel.
Roden also had a decent game at the plate, going 1-for-2 with a walk and an RBI. Unfortunately, it wasn't near enough as the Phillies beat the Blue Jays 11-4.
