Tampa Bay Rays right fielder Josh Lowe was the victim of a horrendous call by an umpire during Monday night's MLB game against Baltimore when he was called out at first despite beating the throw by a mile.
It happened in the bottom of the second inning with runners on first and second and one out with the Rays leading 2-0. On the first pitch of his at-bat, Lowe laid down a bunt towards third base which was scooped up by Orioles third baseman Ramon Urias. Urias made a decent throw that Lowe beat by half a step, but first base umpire Bruce Dreckman called Lowe out at first.
Lowe was dumbfounded by the call, telling Dreckman he "missed that one bad". Rays manager Kevin Cash quickly stepped in to protect and defend his player. Unfortuantely, the Rays were out of challenges and had to live with this one, even though it clearly would have been reversed.

Lowe and Cash would have been justified in being irate over the umpire's terrible call, but they deserve credit for keeping their cool.
Lowe got his revenge in his next at-bat by hitting a solo HR, helping the Rays beat the Orioles 7-1 for their fourth straight win. When you're winning, it makes it easier to overlook bad officiating.
