Vegas Golden Knights center Nicolas Roy was ejected from Thursday's Game 2 of the NHL Western Conference semifinal playoff series against Edmonton for cross-checking Oilers center Trent Frederic in the face.
It happened at the 5:37 mark of overtime with the game tied at 4-4. Roy and Frederic were fighting for the puck along the boards when the puck popped up in the air. At that point Roy took his stick and smashed Frederic in the face with it.

Roy deservedly received a cross-checking major penalty and a game misconduct, leading to his removal from the game. Cross-checks to the head are some of the ugliest plays in hockey. There is no excuse for that. We would guess that the NHL will review the play and likely tack on a suspension.
The Oilers went on to win the game 5-4 to take a 2-0 lead in the series. Game 3 is Saturday in Edmonton.
