Tomas Hertl injures trainer while slamming stick on Golden Knights bench (Video)

Tomas Hertl injures trainer, Golden Knights vs. Oilers, Game 3, 5/10/2025

Vegas Golden Knights center Tomas Hertl accidentally injured one of the team trainers while slamming his stick on the bench during Saturday night's Game 3 of their NHL Western Conference semifinal playoff series against Edmonton.

Hertl had just came off the ice and was clearly trying to release some frustration by breaking his stick. Unfortunately, as he slammed it, he hit a trainer who was standing nearby in the side of the head with the heel of his stick. The trainer immediately headed to the locker room to get himself some medical attention. To top things off, Hertl's stick remained intact.

NHL players need to make sure no one else is around if they plan to smash their stick. When players let emotions get the best of them, innocent people get hurt. It is not the first time we have seen this, as Nazim Kadri once injured an NHL official while slamming his stick in the penalty box. Looks like Hertl could use some anger management training. We hope the trainer is OK.

As for the game, the Golden Knights managed to steal a 4-3 victory by scoring the game-winning goal with 0.4 seconds left. The Oilers still lead the series 2 games to 1. Game 4 is Monday night.
