Wednesday's Athletics home game in Sacramento against the visiting Houston Astros featured backstop adversiting for Houston Methodist Hospital.
Things are already awkward enough with the Athletics refusing to adopt the identity of Sacramento as they play their home games there while waiting for a stadium to be built for them in Las Vegas, instead simply referring to themselves as the Athletics or A's. That causes havoc for broadcasters covering the visiting team that are used to the A's being based in Oakland and now don't know what to call them. One crew referred to them as the "homeless Athletics", with another referring to them as "Oaklamento"
However, things appear to be getting stranger now as advertising space in Sutter Health Park, the minor league stadium where the Athletics are playing their home games for the near future, is being bought by organizations based in the city of the visiting team. We would imagine that Athletics fans in the stadium and watching on television at home were not expecting to see advertisements behind home plate for Houston Methodist.
Good lord…

Nothing says Sacramento -Las Vegas like Houston Methodist Hospital.
The AAA’s man 🤦🏽♂️ https://t.co/FpZPDCMijc pic.twitter.com/hImsZHKs4b
We can't blame the Athletics, or whoever manages advertising at the stadium, as they have space to fill and need to make the money. However, if this trend continues, it puts another black mark on this Athletics move to Las Vegas.
