Sergio Garcia snaps driver after bad tee shot at The Open

Sergio Garcia snaps driver, The Open Championship, 7/20/2025

Spanish pro golfer Sergio Garcia was forced to play most of Sunday's final round of The Open Championship after he snapped it in half by slamming it on the ground in frustration after an errant tee shot.

It happened on the second hole immediately after Garcia hit his tee shot, which sailed to the left and landed in the rough. He was understandably unhappy, as he slammed his driver on the ground. Unfortunately, he probably wasn't planning to crack it in half when he did that. However, since he broke it through a deliberate action of his own making, Garcia was not allowed to replace the driver and had to play the rest of his final round without it.

This is not the first time we have seen Garcia have issues controlling his temper, but this time it came back to bite him. Looks like a little anger management training wouldn't hurt.

To his credit, Garcia managed to recover to shoot a birdie on the 2nd hole and persevered through the adversity of not having a driver at his disposal to finish with a respectable 3-under par for the final round, which was also his overall score for the tournament. Although he was never in contention for the championship with Scottie Scheffler leading the pack, at least Garcia was able to climb a few spots on the leaderboard.
