Indiana Fever guard Sophie Cunningham was given a technical foul for kicking an opposing player in the groin during Sunday's WNBA game in Connecticut.
It happened just over 30 seconds into the game with the Fever holding a 2-0 lead. Cunningham was trying to drive around Sun guard Leila Lacan but lost her footing, ending up on the ground and briefly losing control of the ball. Cunningham got it back while sitting on the ground, but Lacan got her hands on it as tried to pull it away as she stood over her. Cunningham then stuck her foot in Lacan's groin and pushed her off, with Lacan ending up on the floor.

There has been a lot of kicking in the WNBA recently, as the league seems to be getting very physical, similar to what the NBA was like in the 1990s. They may need to follow the NBA's lead and change the rules to let the sharpshooters like Caitlin Clark get the attention they deserve.
Cunningham only 10 minutes in the game before leaving in the second quarter with what appears to be a serious knee injury. However, the Fever stepped up in her absence to beat the Sun 99-93.
