Tom Brady sits in Raiders coaching booth, presents awkward optic as Fox NFL broadcaster (Video)

Tom Brady sits in Raiders coaching booth, Chargers vs. Raiders, 9/15/2025

Las Vegas Raiders minority owner (and future Pro Football Hall of Famer) Tom Brady was in the Raiders coaching booth during Monday night's game against San Diego, raising concerns about the potential conflict of interest due to his dual role as FOX NFL color analyst.

Brady owns a 5% minority stake in the Raiders as of October 2024, which was signed off by the NFL owners. Given his active role as FOX NFL broadcaster, the NFL imposed certain rules designed to manage the potential conflicts of interest. Some of these restrictions include Brady not being allowed to publicly criticize officials or other teams. He is also not allowed to attend broadcast production meetings.

During Monday night's Chargers-Raiders game in Las Vegas, ESPN sideline reporter Peter Schrager pointed out that Brady was sitting in the Raiders coaching booth and mentioned that offensive coordinator Chip Kelly speaks with Brady 2 to 3 times a week watching film and going over the game plan.

Technically this may not be a violation according to the restrictions placed on Brady, but it certainly looks awkward. However, ESPN NFL Draft analyst Field Yates pointed out a potentially more egregious conflict based on his broadcast schedule in the coming weeks: Brady is scheduled to call the Chicago Bears game against Dallas next week on FOX, with the Bears playing the Raiders the following week.

There are no questions about the greatness of Brady's NFL playing career, but the optic of a FOX NFL analyst sitting in the coaches booth of an NFL team (even though he is a minority owner) looks a bit awkward. Obviously this is unchartered territory for the NFL, but they may need to take a second look at this.
