Edmonton Oilers superstar center Connor McDavid gave Washington Capitals right winger Tom Wilson a reverse kick to the groin during Saturday night's NHL game at Rogers Place.
Although McDavid and Wilson will be teammates on the men's hockey team representing Canada at the 2026 Winter Olympics in Italy in just a few weeks, they were clearly battling on opposite side during this matchup. Things came to a head during a scrum late in the second period. Wilson cross-checked McDavid in the back in front of the Capitals net, and McDavid retaliated by throwing his leg back and kicking it up in between Wilson's legs. It was apparent afterwards that Wilson felt some serious pain in a very sensitive area.

Wilson is known for his physical play, but McDavid can deliver big hits as well. In this case, Wilson was not penalized for the cross-check, but McDavid delivered some physical punishment that will make him think twice next time.
McDavid was far and away the star of the game with three assists and two goals, including the game-winner in overtime, to give the Oilers a 6-5 victory.
