Sebastian Munoz whiffs on 1-inch putt, LIV Golf Hong Kong, 3/5/2026

Colombian pro golfer Sebastian Munoz cost himself a share of the lead when he whiffed on a 1-inch putt in Thursday's first round of LIV Golf Hong Kong.

Sebastian was 5-under after 5 holes, sharing the lead with Sergio Garcia and two others. On the par-4 16th, Munoz had a birdie opportunity from about 12 feet away and left it on the edge of the cup. He walked over to tap it in, but he apparently wasn't focused and rushed it, and the ball remained on the edge of the cup as a result. He was able to tap it in on his second attempt, but he knew he had just made a huge mistake.

According to LIV commentator Jerry Foltz: "That is the forward push of the club with the attempt of advancing the ball, the definition of a stroke...Before anybody asked him, he told the scorer, so that’s a bogey."

To his credit, Munoz did not have a total meltdown after blowing the short putt. Despite shooting another bogey on the next hole, he managed to fight through it and finish the round at 5-under, tied for 10th overall in the tournament.
