Yankees' Andruw Jones Gets Showered With Onion Rings Chasing Foul Ball

In the 7th inning of last night's game at Yankee Stadium between the New York Yankees and Minnesota Twins, a fly ball was hit by the Twins' Jason Kubel into left field foul territory.  Yankees left fielder Andruw Jones chased it as far as he could before sliding into the wall to avoid being injured.  Then, the unthinkable happened.

A fan in the front row instinctively tried to catch the foul ball...with a cardboard basket filled with onion rings.  The attempt was unsuccessful, and onion rings went flying everywhere, but mostly on top of poor Andruw Jones.

It will take a while for the fan to live this down.  On top of losing the money he spent on those onion rings (which are not cheap - this is Yankee Stadium after all), he didn't catch the ball.  If you're going to sacrifice your food, you at least need to catch the ball.

Remember, kids:  onion ring baskets are not good for catching baseballs.  If you want to catch a foul ball, bring a glove to the game.
