Ryan Braun Fails To Get Inside-The-Park Home Run When He Falls After Rounding Third Base

In Wednesday night's game at Milwaukee, Brewers left fielder Ryan Braun could have had an inside-the-park home run if he was able to keep his balance after rounding third base. Instead, Braun only gets credit for a triple after falling down before reaching home plate and getting caught in a rundown.

It happened in the bottom of the third inning yesterday.  Braun hit a deep fly ball to left-center field just over the head of St. Louis Cardinals center fielder Allen Craig, who fell down and the ball bounced off the wall and into center field.  Craig chased it down as Ryan Braun was rounding second base, but Braun seemed to have a sure inside-the-park home run.

However, as Craig threw it to the cutoff man (shortstop Rafael Furcal), Braun lost his balance and fell on his face when he rounded third base.  Braun was unable to regain his balance as Furcal's throw to catcher Yadier Molina beat him to home plate.  As Braun tried to run back to third base, Molina tossed the ball to third baseman David Freese, who tagged out Braun.

Retired Indiana Pacers basketball star Reggie Miller happened to be at the game and had to catch his breath like the rest of us after that exciting play.
