Cubs outfielder confused during home run trot (Video)

Chicago Cubs left fielder Junior Lake was so unsure as to whether his home run ball really left the park that he stopped running during his home run trot in the sixth inning of Sunday's game at San Diego.

Padres left fielder Seth Smith made a leaping attempt to snag Lake's deep fly ball, but came just short as the ball made it over the wall for a home run. Smith doubled over a bit after making the leap and made no reaction while he took a moment to recover, and for a moment it looked to some people like he may have actually caught the ball. Meanwhile, Lake was looking for a clear sign as to whether the ball really went out, and was so confused that he stopped running before reaching third base.

In the end, the third base umpire finally gave Lake the go-ahead to run home, and Lake was able to finish his trot and celebrate with his teammates.
