David Ortiz's shaved beard being auctioned for charity (Photos)

For those of you who are interested in unique baseball collectibles, this should be right up your alley: an authentic championship "beard ball" made up of the hair from the shaved beard of Boston Red Sox slugger (and 2013 World Series MVP) David Ortiz.

Big Papi had his beard shaved by Gillette earlier this month, and agreed to have his whiskers collected and reassembled as a beard ball "trophy" to raise money for charity. The David Ortiz beard ball has been packaged with the Gillette Fusion ProGlide razor used to shave the beard, and is currently being auctioned on EBay, with a current bid (as of this writing) of over $5,100.

Also up for bid is Shane Victorino beard ball trophy, which may be a bit more affordable with a current bid of over $1,600. Bids will be accepted until the end of the month.

All proceeds from both auctions are going towards Movember, the global charity raising funds and awareness for men's health to combat prostate and testicular cancer.

UPDATE: At the close of the auction, the winning bid for Big Papi's beard was $10,877.77.
