John Jaso chases bird out of infield (Video)

Oakland Athletics catcher John Jaso found himself in the unusual position of having to chase a bird out of the infield in order to take his at-bat during the first inning of Monday's game in Detroit.

After Coco Crisp hit a double to lead off the game, a bird landed between home plate and the pitcher's mound. Jaso came out of the batter's box to chase the bird off the field, and the home plate umpire helped send the bird flying towards the on-deck circle. However, the bird refused to leave the field completely, seemingly content in front of the Tigers dugout.

The bird may have served its purpose in distracting Jaso, who popped out to second in the first pitch of his at-bat. Jaso went 0-for-5 in the game as the A's lost to the Tigers 5-4.
