J.D. Martinez HR assisted by Oscar Mercado's glove

Oscar Mercado accidentally knocks ball over wall

Boston Red Sox designated hitter J.D. Martinez had the help of an outfielder's glove on a home run during Sunday's game against Cleveland.

It happened in the bottom of the sixth inning with two outs and the bases empty as Martinez hit a deep fly ball to right field. The ball hit the top of the wall and was bouncing back towards the field of play. However, the ball deflected off the arm of Indians right fielder Oscar Mercado and into the Red Sox bullpen, giving Martinez a home run.

Sometimes it's better to be lucky than good.

The homer was one of two on the day for Martinez as the Red Sox beat the Indians 12-5.
