The end of summer, after all of your summer vacation plans are done and you’re getting ready for back to school, is arguably the worst time of year. Unless you happen to be a football fan, that is!

One of the big games early on in the season will be the Week 3 matchup of the San Francisco 49ers vs. the Pittsburgh Steelers. Fans are already buying tickets for this intriguing matchup at Levi’s Stadium (located in the Fremont / Silicon Valley area of California). The game kicks off at 1:25 PM on September 22.

The 49ers look to be better than they have been in years now that they’ll have a full season of up-and-coming QB Jimmy Garoppolo. And fans around the league are wondering how the Steelers will stack up now that their two elite offensive weapons from seasons past, Antonio Brown and Le'Veon Bell, have moved on to new teams.

If you’re a football fan who’s going to be in the Bay Area that weekend, you owe it to yourself to catch a real NFL experience and see a good game between two teams who don’t often play each other.

In this piece, we wanted to take a quick look at some of the things that one can do in the Fremont and Silicon Valley area if you're in town to catch the game.

Accommodations

If you’re coming in from out of town, your first order of business is finding a good hotel. The Hyatt Place Fremont/Silicon Valley is a popular choice for people going to 49ers games. It’s just 10 minutes away from Levi’s Stadium and offers convenient amenities like 24/7 on-site dining for midnight snackers and a heated outdoor pool if you fancy a dip.

The Hilton Santa Clara is another solid option. It’s just a five-minute walk to the stadium, 20 minutes from the San Jose Airport, and offers award-winning on-site dining.

Silent Film Museum

One of the biggest attractions in the Fremont/Silicon Valley area is the impact that the region has had on the film industry. The sights in Hollywood may gain most of the attention compared to here, but Fremont and Silicon Valley have had a lot of influence over the film industry over the years.

The Niles Essanay Silent Film Museum is a great place to go and appreciate some of the earliest films that were made. It is a great place to go to learn some history and to gain an appreciation for all of the films that we have available to us today.

Central Park And Lake Elizabeth

Santa Clara's Central Park is one of the great natural beauties in the region. It spans over 40 acres but is mostly known for Lake Elizabeth. You have the option to rent a paddleboat to go out on the water and enjoy the feeling of freedom. This is available on the weekends, which is perfect if you are in town for the Sunday NFL game.

There is golf and tennis offered throughout the park, as well. No matter what your outdoor activity of choice is, there is something for everyone at this park.

Berkeley's Mystery Walls

There are a lot of walls and other structures sprinkled throughout the landscape that people don't have a good explanation for. One of those structures is the Berkeley Mystery Walls. These are a structure that we know for a fact were not built by Spanish settlers, but we don't have a good answer for who they were built by. We don't know how old they are, and we don't know what purpose these walls were supposed to serve. All of these questions just add to the mystery.

Those who love adventures and mysteries will love the Berkeley Mystery Walls. All we can do is observe them and make the best educated guesses that we can about their origin and what their real purpose could be.

As you can see there is a lot of variety in terms of things that you can do in the Silicon Valley and Fremont area. Watching football may be what you have come to see, but there is so much more that one can do while they are in the area. Regardless of if you are cheering on the 49ers or the Steelers, you can have fun in Fremont/Silicon Valley.
