NHL linesman Michel Cormier takes scary fall into boards

NHL linesman Michel Cormier checked out after falling backwards into boards 10/16/2019

A scary moment took place during Wednesday night's Pittsburgh Penguins game against Colorado when NHL linesman Michel Cormier took a scary fall, hitting his head against the boards and on the ice.

It happened less than two minutes into the second period with the score tied at 1. Cormier was trying to pivot from forward to backwards as he tried to position himself near the blue line a few feet in front of the Penguins bench. As Cormier pivoted, he caught a rough patch on the ice with the edge of his skate, causing him to lose his footing and fall backwards. Although he tried to brace himself as he fell, the back of his head slammed into the boards. As Cormier slumped down onto the ice, he bumped his head again.

The arena became very quiet as doctors came out to check on Cormier. He was able to sit up after about a minute, but was very woozy as he skated off the ice. The game resumed with only three officials to cover the rest of the game. We hope Cormier will be OK.
