Red Card Alert: CF Montreal forward Romell Quioto hits opponent

CF Montreal forward Romell Quioto earns red card vs Orlando City SC, 2/27/2022

CF Montreal forward Romell Quioto earned a red card for bumping an opposing player and pushing another during Sunday's MLS season opener against Orlando City SC.

It happened in the 66th minute with Orlando holding a 2-0 lead. Quioto was chasing the ball towards the goal line when he was pushed from behind by Orlando City defender Antonio Carlos, taking him down. Carlos teased him a bit while he was down, leading to an angry Quioto getting up and chest-bumping Carlos. While Carlos laughed it off, Orlando defender Robin Jansson came over and pushed Quioto to defend Carlos, making Quioto more angry and reacting by hitting Jansson hard in the chest with both fists.

Hitting Jansson was what did him in. When he saw the red card from the official, Quioto realized that he had gone too far. Let's hope he learns from this experience. Jansson was given a yellow card for pushing Quioto.

Montreal was forced to play with 10 men for the remainder of the game, and Orlando City held on for the 2-0 shutout victory.
