Purdue safety Chris Jefferson pukes after pick-six vs. Penn State

Purdue safety Chris Jefferson pukes after pick-six, Penn State vs. Purdue, 9/1/2022
Purdue Boilermakers senior safety Chris Jefferson puked after running back an interception for a touchdown during Thursday night's season opener against Big Ten Conference rival Penn State.

It happened in the middle of the fourth quarter with Penn State holding a 28-24 lead. Penn State had the ball on their own 48-yard line with a chance to take control of the game. On first and 10, quarterback Sean Clifford dropped back for a pass and overthrew his open receiver, with Jefferson in position to catch the ball for the interception on his own 28-yard line. With some nifty moves and his teammates leading the way to block for him, he navigated all the way down the field 72 yards for the pick-six to give Purdue the lead.

Before Purdue could convert the extra point, ESPN cameras were in perfect position to capture Jefferson on the sideline vomiting on the ground. Jefferson clearly "left it all on the field" in the game. In addition to the "puke six", Jefferson finished the game with 7 tackles, including 5 solo tackles, to lead the team.

Unfortunately, Purdue was not able to close the deal in the end, as Penn State drove the ball 80 yards and scored a touchdown in the final minute to win the game 35-31 in a real thriller.

Football is back, baby!
