Jake Walman celebrates with Griddy, Canucks vs. Red Wings, 2/10/2023

Detroit Red Wings defenseman Jake Walman celebrated with the Griddy dance after scoring a penalty shot in overtime to beat Vancouver 4-3 in Saturday's NHL game at the Little Caesars Arena.

In the opening moments of overtime, Walman had a one-on-one opportunity against Canucks goaltender Casey Desmith when he was cross-checked in the back by defenseman Quinn Hughes. Walman missed the shot after being knocked off-balance, but the official called for a penalty shot immediately, giving Walman a second chance.

It was the first penalty shot of Walman's NHL career. He made the most of it, and then he treated the home fans to the Griddy celebration.

Not the most creative celebration dance we have seen, but it is the first time we have seen the Griddy done on ice. It takes a pro to keep his balance while doing that.

Walman also had an assist in the third period to help lead the Red Wings to the win.
