Venezuelan pro golfer Jhonattan Vegas caught a lucky break during Friday's second round of the PGA Championship when his tee shot bounced off a rake and put him closer to the hole.
It happened on the par-3 17th hole at the Quail Hollow Club in Charlotte, North Carolina. Vegas easily cleared the water, but his ball stayed to the right. It seemed destined to end up on the fringe of the green, similar to the shot that had Tyrell Hatton swearing on a hot mic on Thursday. However, a rake was laying on the green near a sand trap, and the ball bounced off the rake and rolled towards the hole.
That’s just classic Vegas luck 🍀#PGAChamp pic.twitter.com/vELza3YfZ3

Vegas is probably accustomed to unusual bounces on tee shots by now. Last year he had a tee shot that landed on a policeman's arm at the 3M Open. This time around, things worked out in his favor. However, it still leads to the question: Who left the rake on the course? Someone in groundskeeping has some explaining to do.
Vegas made par on the hole, and although he followed it up with a double bogey on 18, he is still atop the leaderboard with a two stroke lead on the field at 8-under.
