Phillies broadcast eulogizes 'POOP' scorebug vs. Pirates (Video)

Poop Scorebug tribute, Pirates vs. Phillies, 5/16/2025

Friday night's NBC Sports Philadelphia broadcast of the Phillies home game against Pittsburgh paid tribute to the "POOP" scorebug that was proudly displayed during games against the Pirates between the 2022 and 2024 seasons.

During the prior three seasons, the scorebug displayed each team's "P" logo on the outside with the score on the inside. With each game started at 0-0, the scorebug would show "P 0 - 0 P", spelling out "POOP" and leaving MLB fans chuckling every time the Pirates and Phillies faced each other. NBC Sports Philadelphia decided to update the scorebug for the 2025 season, which not only features a 3-letter abbreviation for each team, but also has the score to the right of each abbreviation, so for tonight's game, the scorebug displayed as "PIT 0 - PHI 0" to start the game.

Nevertheless, the Phillies broadcast acknowledged the elephant in the room by eulogizing the "POOP" scorebug in hilarious fashion.

You don't expect to get laughs from a scorebug, but this was something fans grew to appreciate. Sometimes you don't know what you have until it's gone.
