SF Giants broadcasters jokingly refer to Athletics as "Oaklamento" (Video)

SF Giants broadcasters Jon Miller and Mike Krukow, Athletics vs. Giants, 5/18/2025

San Francisco Giants broadcasters jokingly referred to the A's as "Oaklamento" during Sunday's MLB game at Oracle Park.

It has been well documented that the Athletics are currently playing in Sacramento this season after leaving Oakland, but they refuse to call themselves the Sacramento A's because they plan to move to Las Vegas for the 2028 season. Due to the temporary nature of their stay in Sacramento, they are simply referring to themselves as the A's.

This can lead to awkward moments from broadcasters of opposing teams due to the A's historical tie with Oakland. In fact, NBC Sports Bay Area broadcaster Jon Miller repeatedly referred to the A's as Oakland during Sunday's broadcast. As a result, Miller's broadcast partner Mike Krukow decided to have a little fun by acknowledging the strange temporary nature of the A's arrangement while backhandedly teasing Miller about his mistake.

"We are going to the bottom half of the fourth inning and Oaklamento leads San Francisco 2-1..."

Not sure if "Oaklamento" will catch on, although it does sound better than the "homeless Athletics" nickname given to the A's by Texas Rangers broadcasters recently. Still, we may never get used to the Athletics not being in Oakland anymore, and until they get to Vegas, there could be a lot more moments like these.
