Alvin Kamara needs do-over after botched first pitch at Cubs game (Video)

Alvin Kamara botched first pitch, Cardinals vs. Cubs, 7/5/2025

New Orleans Saints running back Alvin Kamara needed a do-over for his ceremonial first pitch prior to Saturday's Chicago Cubs game at Wrigley Field against their division rival St. Louis Cardinals.

Kamara is serving as ambassador for this weekend's NASCAR Chicago Street Race, so the Cubs knew he would be in town. Kamara walked out to the mound with a custom Cubs jersey with his name and number (41) on the back.

Unfortunately, Kamara's first pitch did not go as planned. Not only was his throw a bit wide, but it was way short, as it bounced in the grass in front of home plate, forcing Cubs mascot Clark the Cub to reach to his right to stop the ball from heading into the backstop.

Naturally, Kamara was not happy with the toss, so he asked for another throw, which was much better than the first. Although it was a bit wide, Kamara showed a little speed with his fastball from the top of the mound.

Kamara is not the first celebrity to ask for a do-over after a botched first pitch. The late NBA Hall of Famer Bill Walton threw a first pitch so wide that it ended up in the backstop. Fortunately, as was the case with Kamara, Walton made up for it with a solid second pitch.
