Kasakhstan cyclist Yevgeniy Fedorov and Norwegian cyclist Andreas Leknessund crashed on a slippery section of road during Sunday's Stage 2 of the 2025 Tour de France.
It happened about 165 kilometers from the finish line as Fedorov and Leknessund were part of a four-man breakaway group riding along a wet section of roadway. Fedorov lost his traction and fell while making a left-hand turn, sliding on the pavement and stopping right in front of some seated fans. For some reason, one fan couldn't be bothered to get of their chair to help Fedorov. Leknessund wiped out shortly afterwards while making the same turn, but was in the middle of the roadway and did not take out any other riders.
Unlike yesterday's crash between French cyclists fighting for the KOM point, Fedorov and Leknessund were able to avoid hitting other cyclists and each other. They appeared to be uninjured and were able to get back onto their bikes and resume racing.
Unfortunately, both riders were caught by the peloton with just over 50 km remaining in the stage and they played no role in the final sprint.
