New York Mets manager Carlos Mendoza kicked dirt on home plate after being ejected from Sunday's game against their crosstown rival New York Yankees for arguing with the home plate umpire over a called third strike call.
It happened in the bottom of the ninth inning with Mets pinch hitter Luis Torrens at the plate as the Yankees led 6-4. With the count 0-1, Yankees closer Devin Williams threw a changeup that looked to be a bit low and outside. Torrens held off on swinging, but home plate umpire John Bacon called strike two. Mendoza began screaming at Bacon, using some choice words saying that the pitch was low and should have been called a ball. Bacon eventually stepped towards Mendoza and gave him a warning.
The next pitch by Williams was another changeup. Torrens took it as it appeared to be low as well, but Bacon called strike three. This sent Mendoza over the edge, as he ran towards Bacon and said "That's f***ing bullsh**!" which led to his immediate ejection.
Mendoza made sure to get his money's worth by kicking some dirt on home plate and getting in Bacon's face before other umpire crew members stepped in to break it up.
"I like when he kicked dirt on home plate. I love it."

It was only Mendoza's second ejection of the season. Mendoza knew he would likely be ejected for arguing the call, which was questionable. However, given that it was late in the game, Mendoza didn't have much to lose. At least he put on a show for the home fans.
Unfortuantely, Mendoza's ejection did not inspire a Mets rally as the Yankees held on to win the game 6-4 and break a six-game losing streak.
