Athletics left fielder Tyler Soderstrom accidentally knocked a fly ball over the outfield wall, resulting in a home run for San Francisco Giants second baseman Tyler Fitzgerald, during Sunday's MLB game at Sutter Health Park in Sacramento.
It happened with Fitzgerald leading off in the top of the eighth inning with no outs and nobody on with the Giants leading 5-1. On the 1-2 pitch, Fitzgerald hit a fly ball to deep left field. Soderstrom chased it to the warning track and leaped in front of the outfield wall. Fitzgerald had the ball in his glove, but it bounced out and over the outfield wall. As a result, Fitzgerald gets credit for a home run, but the ball would not have gone out without the assist from Soderstrom.

That is just terrible luck when an MLB outfielder knocks a ball over the outfield wall. It seems unfair after making such a great effort to get to the ball and coming so close to making a great play.
Despite the outfield mishap, Soderstrom had a decent day from the plate, going 2-for-4 with a home run and a double. Unfortunately, the A's lost to the Giants 6-2.
