Detroit Tigers All-Star starter Tarik Skubal ripped into the home plate umpire for a terrible pitch call during Friday night's game against the Los Angeles Angels.
It happened in the top of the first inning with two outs and nobody on with the game scoreless. On the 2-0 pitch, Skubal threw a 98 mph fastball to Angels superstar Mike Trout. It looked like a solid pitch in the upper part of the strike zone based on the K-Zone that viewers could see at home. However, home plate umpire Tom Hanahan inexplicably called the pitch a ball.
