Chicago Sky coach Tyler Marsh ejected for aggressively charging referee (Video)

Tyler Marsh charges referee, Sun vs. Sky, 8/23/2025

Chicago Sky head coach Tyler Marsh was ejected from Saturday's WNBA game against Connecticut for aggressively charging an official during an uncontrollable temper tantrum.

It happened with 8:05 remaining in the second quarter as the Sun held a 33-20 lead. Marsh was apparently frustrated by the lack of foul calls by the officiating crew. The final straw for Marsh was Sky center Elizabeth Williams receiving a pass in the key and being wrapped up by Sun forward Aaliyah Edwards without a foul call.

As the Sun dribbled up the court after grabbing the rebound on a missed jumper by Williams, Marsh completely lost his cool and charged WNBA official Tim Greene, who was standing along the baseline behind the basket. Marsh appeared to pump his fist as he charged at Greene and had to be held back by Sky players (including Angel Reese) and assistant coaches. Unsurprisingly, he was immediately ejected from the game and sent to the locker room.

We have seen WNBA coaches ejected for arguing with officials, but this was pretty egregious by Marsh. Regardless of how bad you may disagree with a call, this is not the way to make your case.

The Sky were unable to rally in Marsh's absence as they lost to the Sun 94-84. Both teams are now 9-27 and are way out of playoff contention.
