Dan Quinn suffers bloody nose from sideline collision with own QB (Video)

Marcus Mariota knocks Dan Quinn on his back, Raiders vs. Commanders, 9/21/2025

Washington Commanders head coach Dan Quinn suffered a bloody nose after being run into by his own quarterback on the sideline during Sunday's game against Las Vegas.

It happened just seconds before halftime with the Commanders holding a 17-10 lead over the Raiders. On 1st and 10 at the Raiders 40-yard line, Commanders QB Marcus Mariota scrambled towards the sideline for a 3-yard gain. Before he reached the sideline, Mariota was pushed out of bounds by Raiders safety Tristin McCollum, giving him a little extra momentum. Quinn stood fast in an attempt to slow down Mariota, but he got the worst of it. Not only did his face smack into Mariota's shoulder pad, but he was knocked flat on his back.

After he got him, Quinn had blood coming from the bridge of his nose.

Although it is rare, coaches and officials in pro sports can get accidentally hit in the face from time to time. It's unfortunate, but it's part of the game.

Quinn toughed it out and stayed on the sideline. The Commanders kicked a field goal on the next play to take a 20-10 lead into halftime, and they pulled away in the second half to win the game 41-24.
