Viktor Hovland gets tee-shot, and umbrella, stuck in tree at Pebble Beach (Video)

Viktor Havland throws umbrella into tree, Pebble Beach Pro-Am, 2/15/2026

Norwegian pro golfer Viktor Hovland had some tough luck on one particular hole in Sunday's final round of the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am as he not only lost his ball in a tree, but also an umbrella.

It happened on the 18th hole at the Sypglass Hill Golf Club. After his tee shot landed in a cypress tree, Hovland wanted to avoid losing a stroke and having to tee off again. Hovland attempted to knock the ball out of the tree with an umbrella that someone lent to him. After tossing the umbrella into the tree, the ball never came down...and neither did the umbrella.

Not much you can do when it happens, as it's just part of the game. However, it does show that even the pro golfers can have rough days on the course like the rest of us.

Over the years, we have seen shots from pro golfers land in all sorts of precarious places: a policeman's arm, a lawn chair and a hospitality suite to name a few. Scott Stallings sent his tee shot into a palm tree a few years back and he didn't have much luck getting it back either.

Ultimately, Hovland had no choice but to tee off again on 18, ending up with a bogey which put him at 1-over for the back nine. However, his round was not over. Due to the inclement weather in the forecast, the officials used split tees and Hovland played in a group that started on the back nine. On the front nine, Hovland shot a solid 1-under, putting him at even for the final round. For the tournament, Hovland finished at 6-under. Although way out of contention for the top prize, he will take home a few thousand to make his weekend worth it.
