Brendan Ryan's bat flies into Mariners dugout...on consecutive pitches (Video)

Seattle Mariners shortstop Brendan Ryan lost his bat twice while swinging on consecutive pitches as he struck out during the second inning of Friday night's game at Tropicana Field against the Tampa Bay Rays. To top it off, Ryan's bat landed in the Mariners dugout both times, sending teammates and coaching staff scattering.

Ryan swung hard on strikes two and three, and fortunately no one in the Mariners dugout was hurt by the flying bat. Mariners broadcaster Dave Sims was so shocked to see the bat flying the second time around that the pitch of his voice raised two octaves.

With Ryan losing his bat twice on consecutive pitches, despite wearing gloves, perhaps he had a little too much pine tar on his bat?
