Travis Kelce tosses helmet after failed catch leads to Titans interception (Video)

Travis Kelce tosses helmet, Titans vs. Chiefs, 11/6/2022

Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce tossed his helmet towards the sideline after a failed catch attempt led to an interception during Sunday night's NFL game against Tennessee.

It happened a few minutes into the third quarter with the Titans holding a 14-9 lead. With the Chiefs possessing the ball first-and-10 on their own 37-yard line, quarterback Patrick Mahomes threw a short pass to Kelce in the flat that bounced off his hands, with cornerback Roger McCreary catching the ball before it hit the ground for the interception.

Kelce was understandably angry with himself for giving the Titans a short field for a scoring opportunity, and took it out on his helmet as he threw it towards the sideline. At this point in the game, things were not looking good for the Chiefs. After Kansas City took a 9-0 lead in the second quarter, the Titans scored two touchdowns before halftime to take a 14-9 lead, and McCreary's interception seemed to keep the momentum with Tennessee.

However, the Chiefs defense stepped up from that point on in the game, holding the Titans to a field goal on that ensuing drive. It would be the last time in the game that Tennessee would score. Meanwhile, Kelce managed to regroup and stay focused, finishing with 10 catches for 102 yards as the Chiefs came from behind to beat the Titans 20-17 in overtime.

We would imagine Kelce was in a much better mood after the game. Maybe he was even happy enough to give Mahomes a wet willy.
