New York Yankees third baseman Jazz Chisholm Jr. made a throwing error in the middle of an interview with ESPN while mic'd up during Sunday night's game against Boston.
It happened in the top of the third inning with one out and nobody on as the Yanks led 2-0. Chisholm paused his answer to be ready for a play, and as luck would have it, Red Sox batter Ceddanne Rafaela hit a grounder in the gap between second and third. Chisholm hustled to his left to get to the ball, then did a counterclockwise 360 spin before firing towards first base. Unfortuantely, his throw was wide of the bag, causing Chisholm to yell "Dammit!" Rafaela advanced to second on the error.

It makes for interesting television when a mic'd up player makes a play in a game, but it can be a bit awkward when that player makes an error. To be fair, this was a tough play to make, and being mic'd up did not cause Chisholm to make a bad throw. His spin throw had a bit more risk, but it might have been his only shot to make the out.
The Yankees made it out of the inning without giving up a run, so Chisholm's error did not have an impact on the game. However, the Yankees lost to the Red Sox 11-7.
