Astros pitchers deliver two immaculate innings vs. Rangers

Phil Maton and Luis Garcia celebrate immaculate innings, Astros vs Rangers, 6/15/2022

The Houston Astros became the first team in MLB history to throw two immaculate innings in the same game during Wednesday's 9-2 victory over Texas

In the second inning, Astros starter Luis Garcia struck out the side on nine pitches. Then, in the seventh inning, Astros reliever Phil Maton struck out all three batters he faced with the minimum nine pitches. As it happens, both immaculate innings came against the same three Rangers batters: Nathaniel Lowe, Ezequiel Duran and Brad Miller.

Considering professional baseball has been around for over a century, it's always amazing to see things happen that have never happened before.

Garcia finished with nine strikeouts in six innings to earn the win.
