Chicago Fire's Kellyn Acosta scores incredible game-winner from midfield in stoppage time (Video)

Kellyn Acosta celebrates game winner for Chicago Fire FC vs. CF Montreal, 3/16/2024

Chicago Fire FC midfielder Kellyn Acosta scored an incredible game-winner from midfield, with some help from the wind, during the final minutes of stoppage time in Saturday's MLS game against CF Montreal.

The Fire had scored the tying goal only minutes earlier in the 95th minute. In the 99th minute, Acosta took the pass from his goaltender at midfield and sent a prayer towards the CF Montreal net. Fortunately for Acosta, the wind carried the ball further than CF Montreal goalkeeper Jonathan Sirois was expecting. Sirois was caught flatfooted near the edge of the penalty box, and by the time he tried to recover, the ball was over his head, off his hands and into the net.

You certainly don't see that every day.

It was Chicago's first win of the season and Montreal's first loss of the season.
