Phillies fan catches Bryce Harper HR with his cap, Giants vs. Phillies, 5/6/2024

A Philadelphia Phillies fan caught a Bryce Harper home run ball with his baseball cap during Monday afternoon's game against San Francisco.

It happened in the bottom of the fifth inning with two men on and nobody out as the Giants held a 1-0 lead. On the first pitch of his at-bat, Harper hit a 92 mph sinker into the left-center field stands of Citizens Bank Park to give the Phillies a 3-1 lead.

While two fans in the front row in the stands appeared to be in position to catch Harper's home run with their bare hands, a fan in the second row decided to use his baseball cap to help him catch the ball. The ball went through the hands of the two fans in front of him and right into his cap.

Now that's pretty impressive. A bit lucky, too, but nothing wrong with having luck on your side. We have seen many fans make impressive catches of home run balls over the years, but it is rare to see someone catch the ball with their cap.

The 3-run HR was the exclamation point to Harper's productive day, as he finished 2-for-4 with that HR and 3 RBI as the Phillies beat the Giants 6-1 to complete a 4-game sweep and maintain their lead in the National League East.
