Minnesota Timberwolves superstar Anthony Edwards was named the 2026 NBA All-Star Game MVP, but he had a slip-up where he accidentally cursed during a live interview in the midst of Sunday's games.
Sunday was the debut for a new format of the game where the NBA All-Stars were broken up into three teams that would play 12-minute games in a round-robin format, with the best two teams playing each other in a "championship" game. Edwards was part of "Team Stars" comprised of the younger American All-Stars, while the American veterans made up Team Stripes and non-American NBA All-Stars made up Team World.
In the first game, Team Stars faced Team World. Edwards led Team Stripes with 13 points, including a game-tying three-pointer to force overtime as overcame Victor Wembanyama's dominant 14-point performance and beat Team World 37-35. After that exciting game, as the player with the best performance on the winning team, Edwards earned himself a live interview with Zora Stephenson of NBC Sports.
Stephenson asked about Edwards' performance in the context of how competitive the game was, and Edwards gave credit to Wembanyama for setting the tone, but accidentally dropped an s-bomb. To his credit, he quickly caught himself and apologized for the slip-up:
Ant gives Wemby credit for the game being competitive and cusses...and apologies for cussing... 🤣🤣🤣 pic.twitter.com/trQTMBSDIx

“I ain't gonna lie, Wemby set the tone. He came out playing hard, so it's hard not to match that. So sh**, that's what happened. Sorry for my language, that's what happened though.”
We have seen plenty of accidental s-bombs on live television over the years, and we've seen a lot worse from people who should know better. It still amazes us that some sports broadcasts either don't have that 7-second delay or have censors that aren't prepared for this. Since this was NBC and not cable television, they may have to answer to the FCC for this.
In the second game, Edwards scored 11 points but Team Stripes squeaked out a 42-40 win. Team Stripes went on to beat Team World 48-45 in the third game, setting up a rematch with Team Stars in the "championship" game. In the final, Team Stars blew out Team Stripes 47-21, with Edwards scoring 8 points along with 4 rebounds and 2 assists. Nice performance from Edwards, and hopefully he can carry that momentum over to the final two months of the regular season.
