Juan Soto plays pat-a-cake with umpires, Yankees vs. Giants, 6/1/2024

New York Yankees superstar Juan Soto played a game of pat-a-cake with an umpire during Saturday's game in San Francisco

It happened in the top of the first with one out after Soto hit a single to get on base. With the count 3-2 to Aaron Judge, Soto was running as the pitch was thrown. As Giants starter Logan Webb threw an 87 mph changeup, Judge hit a foul grounder into the backstop. Second base umpire Hunter Wendelstedt put his hands out towards Soto to give him the "stop" signal since the play was dead. Soto slowed down at second and patted Wendelstedt's hands, and they both smiled as he turned to jog back to first.

We have seen some amusing player interactions with umpires over the years. It's nice that they can get along sometimes and not always be arguing over controversial calls.

Soto came around to score a couple of pitches later as Judge hit a 464 foot home run to give the Yankees a 2-0 lead. The Yankees went on to win the game 7-3 to extend their winning streak to four games.
